The Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA), which operates the 51-mile toll road system in Orange County, was awarded with the Public Agency Partnership award at the Orange County Business Council’s (OCBC) Annual “Turning Red Tape into Red Carpet” Awards Reception on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at the Center Club in Costa Mesa.

TCA was recognized for its innovative, shared approach regarding operations with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA). 

The partnership between TCA and SBCTA will potentially save $2.4 million in capital costs and up to $800,000 a year in annual operating costs when compared to SBCTA establishing its own “stand-alone” tolling operation.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by OCBC for working cooperatively with one of our fellow toll agencies and benefitting both their toll-paying customers and ours,” said Foothill/Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency Chairman Ed Sachs. “After more than 20 years of successfully operating Orange County’s toll roads, we were excited to be able to draw on our own experience to execute a cost-effective agreement with SBCTA.”

The Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) are two joint powers authorities formed by the California legislature in 1986 to plan, finance, construct and operate Orange County’s public toll road system. Fifty-one miles of the system are complete, including the 73, 133, 241 and 261 Toll Roads. TCA continues to meet the region’s growing need for congestion-free transportation alternatives.
