What is national interoperability?
In tolling, interoperability refers to the ability of different electronic toll collection (ETC) systems to work together seamlessly, allowing drivers to use a single account or payment method to pay tolls across multiple jurisdictions.
National interoperability is an ongoing pursuit of the transportation industry since travelers want the convenience of using one transponder to pay for tolls in multiple states. The Toll Roads continues to work toward developing partnerships with other tolling agencies to allow The Toll Roads accountholders to travel between other states and have tolls post to their account.
In California, interoperability has already been achieved with FasTrak. To learn more about where your FasTrak transponder can take you in California, please visit our FasTrak Throughout California page or FasTrak.org .
