Cattle Grazing
After a successful three-year pilot program at the 23-acre Live Oak Plaza Conservation Area, rezoned to preserve open space near Trabuco Canyon, TCA officially adopted cattle grazing as part of our Adaptive Land Management Program for mitigation sites.

Conservation grazing, or targeted grazing, is a carefully monitored, science-based tool utilizing livestock to improve and maintain the quality of biodiversity of natural areas. It is cost-effective and helps reduce flashy fuels and associated fire risks, increase bare ground, and promote a shift toward native annual species.
TCA is keeping a small part of the region’s history alive at the Live Oak Plaza conservation area while also restoring natural habitat and reducing wildfire risk. The program is the first of its kind in Orange County and is one more example of TCA’s commitment to preserving native habitat.
