Transportation Corridor Agencies Reappoint Director Peggy Huang to Nation’s Largest Metropolitan Planning Organization
The Agencies’ membership to the Southern California Association of Governments, which develops the regional transportation plan, began in 2010
IRVINE, Calif. - July 10, 2020
The Transportation Corridor Agencies’ (TCA) two Boards of Directors have reappointed Director Peggy Huang as their Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) representative. Huang was first appointed to a two-year term in 2017.
“I’m honored to continue serving TCA as the SCAG representative. TCA offers a unique and important perspective in the discussion of regional transportation and environmental initiatives, such as habitat conservation and programs geared toward reducing regional greenhouse gas emissions,” Huang said.
SCAG is the largest Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in the nation, encompassing six counties, 191 cities, six county transportation commissions, tribal governments and air quality control districts. Nearly half of California’s population is concentrated in SCAG’s region. In 2010, TCA joined SCAG as a member of the Regional Council and, as a result, has provided valuable input on regional policies, sustainability goals and transportation planning initiatives.
“Director Huang’s commitment and experience with SCAG will serve TCA well as we navigate unprecedented challenges in our industry. She has an excellent understanding of broad policy perspectives and her input undoubtedly will help shape the future for our quality of life in Southern California,” said Samuel Johnson, TCA’s interim CEO.
