TCA Director of Finance Howard Mallen Selected to Attend International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association’s 2020 Leadership Academy

IRVINE, Calif. - February 24, 2020

Howard Mallen, the Transportation Corridor Agencies’ (TCA) director of Finance, was selected to join future transportation industry leaders from across the globe for the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association’s (IBTTA) 2020 Leadership Academy. The academy runs February 23 through 28, in Washington, D.C.

Selected through a competitive application process, Mallen will be one of 36 attendees from throughout the world who will participate in the intensive week-long program taught by internationally recognized toll industry leaders, business partners and educators.

"The rigorous coursework during the academy and the ability to learn alongside future leaders offers an exciting opportunity for personal growth," said Mallen. “I look forward to networking with my peers and enhancing the skills and knowledge I need to assume a leadership role in the transportation community."

"The technologies and systems that drive mobility around the world are changing very rapidly. To adapt to those changes, our industry needs great leaders,” said Pat Jones, executive director and CEO of IBTTA.  “It’s essential for us to equip our future leaders with a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of tolling and transportation systems. That’s what the Leadership Academy is all about, and it’s part of our DNA.”

The coursework includes many facets of toll agency operations with a healthy dose of self-assessment and problem solving.

“My theme as IBTTA President this year is ‘The Road to Continued Excellence.’ Excellence doesn’t just happen; it gets built by strong leaders. That’s why I believe nothing is more important to our industry than its future leaders. I’m proud to serve as president of an association that puts leadership development at the top of its agenda,” said Samuel Johnson, IBTTA president and Chief Toll Operations Officer for TCA.
